US foreign policy is failing, as the Pentagon leaks show: The Times

The weakening of the United States" global position and the failure of its foreign policies have been made abundantly clear by US President Biden"s visit to Ireland, according to an article published by The Times on April 13, 2023.
“Biden’s Irish escape this week is especially convenient. It comes as events in the real world highlight the sharply diminished status of the American superpower he supposedly leads. While he’s enjoying the crack, the US is increasingly enfeebled in the main theatres of global security: Europe, the Middle East and Asia,” writes Gerald Baker, the author of the article.
According to the article, the embarrassing leak of Pentagon documents showed "Washington"s strategic disarray, ineptitude, and weakness." The leaks have not only jeopardized US intelligence prestige and harmed trust in US communication security, but they have also embarrassed the US"s allies, who have had their secrets exposed as a result of the leaks.
“Biden has placed all his US and Nato chips on winning the proxy war against Russia, or at least holding Vladimir Putin to a stalemate. Failure would be a humanitarian and political disaster for Ukraine and a hammer-blow to American credibility and leadership,” writes the author.
The article draws attention to French President Emmanuel Macron"s trip to China earlier this month, after which he returned to Europe with the view that the European Union should not blindly follow US policy towards China. Additionally, America"s influence in the Middle East has been weakened due to Chinese-brokered peace talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran. When it comes to Asia, the United States talks a tough game but plays a weak one.
